Social Media Managers Deserve Better!
Let’s talk about this.
Managing social media is a full-time job that demands strategy, analytics, scheduling, audience engagement, and staying on top of ever-changing trends. But somehow, companies expect us to also be:
• Video editors
• Graphic designers
• SEO specialists
• Bloggers
• Content creators
• Website optimizers
Here’s the truth: these are all different jobs with unique skills and tools. Packing them into one role and calling it “Social Media Manager” is unrealistic—and disrespectful.
Hiring managers, let’s be real:
✅ Need videos? Hire a video editor.
✅ Want great visuals? Work with a designer.
✅ Focusing on SEO? Bring in an expert.
✅ Building a strong social media presence? That’s what social media managers are for.
Stop piling everything onto one role—it’s unfair and unsustainable.
To my fellow creatives out there: I see you. Share the wildest job description you’ve seen for a social media manager in the comments—we could all use the laugh!
